Laparascope An instrument, comparable to an endoscope, which is inserted into the peritoneal cavity to inspect it
Laparascopy Examination of the interior of the abdomen by means of a laparoscope
Laparotomy Surgical incision into the abdominal cavity
Laryngoscope An instrument used to examine the upper passage to the lung, the larynx
Laser A device that amplifies light waves and concentrates them in a narrow, very intense beam of energy
Lithotripsy The crushing of a calculus within the urinary system or gallbladder, followed immediately by the washing out of the fragments
Long term Normally, intended for continuous use for more than 30 days
Lumen The cavity or bore of a tubular organ
